Cubs Summer Camp - 14 July
Please note that Wed 21 July is the last possible chance to get your balance paid for Summer Camp, at Sconce 3-5 Sept. All that wish to come must have paid the balance by this date. If anyone would like to see me about anything regarding camp, ask any questions etc. please see me after Cubs on the 21st.
Cubs - 14 July 2010
Wed 14 July, Cubs will be meeting at and walking a route from St Ives as part of ongoing preparations for summer camp. Please wear neckers but you do not need to wear any other uniform. You will need strong shoes or boots (no uggs/flip flops etc!). Wear clothing suitable for the weather (probably rain!). Drop off 7pm, Collect 8.30pm.

THIS WEEK!!! - We will be meeting down at Low Wood at Riddlesden at 7.00pm until 9.00pm. This meeting is going to be a bring a friend fun night where we will be sausage and marsh mellow burning. We will supply food and hopefully you, the Scouts, will bring a friend and have some fun!!!

The Great Bear Hunt - 30 May 2010
This weekend saw our Chief Scout Bear Grylls take to the skies on the first stage in his mission to visit Scouts across the whole of the UK over the next five years.
He is flying by helicopter to visit 24 events across Yorkshire and the north-east of England over this bank holiday weekend.
Bear brought his youngest son Jesse to visit Blackhills, Reva, Sconce, Sutton Bank, and Mixenden during his visit to the West Yorkshire County.

St Georges Day - 25 April 2010
Rain couldn't stop the St Georges day parade as several hundred young people and their leaders braved the weather for the Patron Saint of Scouting and England. The service, presided over by Cannon Gilligan, boasted the presentation of Scouting's highest award, the Silver Wolf, to veteran Scouter Sydney Smith. Also in the service was the official changeover of the District Standard bearers as three Explorer Scouts took on the honour.
5-a-Side Results - 24 April 2010
Well done to all those who took part in the District 5-a-Side competition! Everyone who took part represented the group well. Although the Scouts team narrowly missed out on a semi-final place the Beavers and Cubs teams both won their section competitions!

You may not be able to tell much difference but the new build is much easier to maintain and update and so hopefully you should see more content appearing as a result. There have also been some changes to the calendar to make it a bit more user friendly. We WILL be meeting at St Annes, 7.30pm on Tuesday 6th April.
We will NOT be meeting on Tuesday 13th April.
We WILL be meeting at KEIGHLEY LEISURE CENTRE, 7.10pm, Tuesday 20th April (keep an eye out for further details).

Scouts Night Change - 5 March 2010
Due to difficulties in leaders being able to make the Scout meetings, it has been decided that Scouts will change to a Tuesday night. Next Thursday, 11th March, will remain as normal at 7pm, then the following week will change to a Tuesday and half an hour later. So the next meeting after the 11th will take place on the Tuesday 16th March from 7.30pm until 9pm.
Any questions, please don't hesitate to contact!
Scouts Master at Arms Postponed - 23 February 2010
Due to a problem at Haworth Community Centre, Scouts will not be able to do the Master at Arms badge at the moment. We do intend to work on the badge eventually but not sure when.
This means that we will be meeting, as usual, at st annes canteen on Thursday @ 7pm.

We're Back! - 6 January 2010
Tonight we resume meetings for 2010. While the Beavers meeting has been cancelled due to the snow, Cubs will be on as normal for all who can make it. I'm sure a little snow won't dampen the Scout sense of adventure! Please note that the deadline for the winter camp has passed and can I ask all those who still have the balance outstanding to pay it asap.

Bag Packing - 6 December 2009
Todays bag packing was a great success, a massive thank you to all who came to help. You raised over £700 for the group. We will be taking part in the District bag packing event next Saturday (the 12th) from 9-11am. By taking part in this we will receive a share of the donations from the whole weekend. I hope you will support us as well for this event as you have today.

Bowling - 18 November 2009
Every year we go bowling as a group for the last meeting before Christmas. This year it will happen on Wed 16 December. It will cost £3 each for a game of bowling and a drink.
Bonfire Update - 6 November 2009
This years bonfire will now be free! There is no charge for entry for this years bonfire. There will be the opportunity to make a donation and to purchase refreshments on the night.
Remembrance Day Parade - 5 November 2009
This Sunday the scouts will be taking part in the parade from Russell St to the Church and on to the Cenotaph at 11:11am. Please show your support.

Following another brilliant camp I'd like to thank all of the leaders that gave up their time to help make it such a success. I'm already planning the winter camp so watch this space!!
Bear Grylls Takes Over - 11 June 2009
At this weekends Gillwell 24 (24hour Explorer Scout camp)Bear Grylls officially took over from Peter Duncan as the new Chief Scout.
Bear struck a highly personal note in his acceptance speech: "My late dad said two things matter in life: follow your dreams and look after your friends. This is what I love about Scouting: ambition, dreams, and 24 hour madness! It£s about doing great things, loving and enjoying the great adventures and helping others to do the same." Looking ahead to his time as Chief, it was clear that Bear is not afraid to speak up for young people. "When people come up to me and say 'Young people today . . .' I say you don't see what I see. I see 3,000 people full of fun, adventure and excitement. I'm so proud to wear B-P's Silver Wolf, but more importantly, the scarf. Good luck and God speed."

Canteen Unavailable - 22 May 2009
Hi All.
We've just found out that our usual meeting place is not going to be available for the next three weeks. Your section leaders will let you know about alternative arrangements.
Camp Availability Closed - 21 May 2009
Places are no longer available for this years group camp. The event takes place at Thornthwaite Camp Site near Harrogate. Those of you that are going must have paid the full balance before the weekend and hand in a signed up-to-date medical form and dietary requirements sheet asap. Those that do not have a medical form on camp will not be able to stay on site.
Bear Grylls Announced as New Chief Scout - 18 May 2009
Bear Grylls has been announced to succeed Peter Duncan as the figure head of scouting in the UK. Bear will take over in July and hold his voluntary position for the next 5 years.

Just a reminder to all that the St Annes Annual Awards Ceremony & AGM 2009 will be held on Wednesday 6th May at St Annes Canteen from 6.30pm - 7.30pm. All are welcome. There will, as always, be refreshments provided and a quiz with a cash prize!!

This years district 5-a-Side competition has been cancelled until further notice. This is due to the pitches at Oakbank being re-layed and so the is no time or venue to organise the event.

Yes, more news!! The letters are ready for our summer camp. This year we will be holding a group camp, which means, Beaver, Cubs and Scouts getting involved and spending the weekend trying new and exciting activities. I hope everyone can get involved as it promises to be a brilliant weekend!!
St Annes New Uniform - 5 March 2009
The observant among you will notice our leaders sporting a bright yellow hoody and white t-shirt bearing the St Annes logo. We are looking to supply these as additional (optional) uniform for all our members. The proposed cost of the t-shirts would be £10. They will be ordered in minimum batches of 25. E-mail me at stannescubs@keighleyscouts.org.uk if you are interested in buying one (or more!!) with your name, size, quantity, and section you are in (beavers, cubs, scouts!) and I'll keep you posted.

Fundraising - 11 November 2008
This years fundraising will take place on Sunday 14th December at Sainsburys supermarket at the bottom of Cavendish Street. We will be there from 10am until 4pm.
If we all make the effort to join in we only need to do fundraising once a year.
We expect every member of St Annes to help as every member enjoys the rewards
Gangshow - 1 November 2008
This year see's the first Keighley Scouts Gang Show in a long time!
It is hoped that it will become an annual event and this years is taking place on the 14th & 15th November. It is open to everyone.
The cost of a uniformed ticket is just £3, or £5 for a regular.
Our group will be attending on Saturday 15th 2pm. If you are able to make it we'd love to see you, if not why not try and catch one of the other showings!

Cubs Winter Camp 2009 Update - 25 October 2008
We will be holding a meeting for parents on 12 Nov following on from cubs (8.30-9pm). I hope to see someone for every cub. We will be looking at what we will be doing on camp, the activities/meals/location etc. I'll be answering any questions you have and you can raise any

Alton Towers Cancelled - 1 October 2008
This yeas Alton Towers trip has been cancelled due to lack of interest. It simply is not feasible to keep the cost low enough with the numbers that have responded. We may try running a smaller trip next summer.
Cobbydale Clomp - 15 September 2008

We're Back!! - 3 September 2008
Hi all.
We're almost there. After a long summer away I expect everyone is ready to jump back in to the action! We have the Cobbydale Clomp coming up soon so Cubs and Scouts will be busy from the off! Remember Beavers and Cubs start back on Wednesday and Scouts on Thursday. Look out for the Alton Towers flyers making their way to you, it'll be here sooner than you think!!

This week was the last meeting at St Annes before the summer break. All sections will resume back from Wednesday 3 September (Thursday for Scouts) at the normal time and place. I wish everyone a safe and happy break and look forward to seeing you all again in September.

Summer Camp - 7 July 2008
Those coming on camp next weekend should ensure that they pack a full change of clothes (including shoes) for kayaking, sleeping bag & pillow and full waterproofs - cagoule and trousers.
All payments and medical forms must be completed and returned before camp.

Alton Towers Trip 2008 - 21 May 2008
The group trip to Alton Towers has been postponed until 8 November 2008. As this is a day held for the UK's Scout and Guides the event will be more friendly and there will be less queues. More details will be released nearer to the time
